Dr. Hebri Certified Optometrist

Dr. Sudhira Pai Hebri is a practicing Optometrist, registered with the College of Optometrists of Ontario. He attended the Optometry program and was certified as an Optometrist from the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences, University of Waterloo.

Dr. Hebri had completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the field of Ophthalmology from prestigious Universities in Southern India. He became a fellow in Ophthalmology (FRCS) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the United Kingdom in 2006. After his graduation, he worked as a lecturer in SDU Medical College, India, where he was involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate Ophthalmology students.

Thereafter, he joined Lion’s Eye Hospital Chintamani, a nonprofit charitable eye hospital in Southern rural India. During this two-year period, he conducted more than sixty-five community outreach camps and performed over a thousand cataract surgeries as well as helped in making the institution self-sustainable. He then worked as a specialist ophthalmologist in different hospitals in both the public and private sectors in the Middle East. He was instrumental in setting up a neonatal screening program for Retinopathy of Prematurity in the Middle East. He screened about 1000 high-risk babies over a period of two years, providing timely treatment with retinal laser in threshold ROP babies. Later, during his stint as the Consultant and the Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at NMC Specialty Hospital in the United Arab Emirates, he had examined and managed a variety of eye conditions such as Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, Pediatric conditions such as Squint, Lazy eye in addition to other general Ophthalmology conditions. Dr. Hebri is a good orator and has given many lectures in Ophthalmology symposia around the world. He has also presented articles in many peer-reviewed journals.

After immigrating to Canada in 2016, he assisted in a research project in the Department of Ophthalmology at Sick Kids Hospital. He has also completed a six- months advanced course in contact lenses and opticianry discipline from BC College of Optics, Surrey BC. Dr. Hebri then completed Masters In Health Administration (MHA) from the University of Regina and is actively involved in discussions and contributions towards Health Policy Innovations in Canada.

Thereafter, Dr. Hebri completed the Optometry program at the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences, University of Waterloo, and qualified as a licensed Optometrist.

Dr. Hebri has vast experience of working with a diverse population around the world. His combined experience as an internationally trained Ophthalmologist and an Optometrist ensures quality eye care for people of all ages. Dr. Hebri is well-versed in the diagnosis and management of Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, Pediatric Eye Care, and Dry eye. He is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. He is also affiliated with various Laser Centers and Other Tertiary Eye Care Centres in and around the Greater Toronto Area, ensuring the co-management of refractive procedures as well as the proper continuity of care for patients with diverse eye conditions.

Dr. Hebri is passionate about providing timely world-class eye care with the latest technology at an affordable cost. He is very patient and prides himself in giving detailed person-centered eye care. He is multilingual, can provide services in English, Hindi, Urdu, Kannada, Konkani, Tamil, and conversational knowledge of Arabic, Malayalam, and Telugu.
